Haley's Food Review

Chicken Alfredo in Venice.

It was such a great experience getting to try the authentic Italian food in Italy. I was amazed at how different the fettuccini was from the other restaurants in the United States.  The fettuccini that we ate in Venice had mushrooms in it and spaghetti noodles, instead of the long flat noodles. It also had a very different taste to it. I am not a fan of mushrooms so I didn’t like that change, but they also added different spices to it that added more flavor that made it delicious.

The lasagna that I had at Finisterrae was the best lasagna that I have ever tasted! It was delicious and their lasagna was very different from the lasagna we get in the United States’ Italian restaurants. The lasagna noodles were spinach based, which added a very different flavor to the lasagna. I liked it better and I sprinkled the parmesan cheese on top of it, which made it even better! This was one of my favorite meals in Italy.

Lasagna in Florence.

Also I came to find out that Italians love bread! Most of the time they serve anything pasta or bread based for every meal. The Italian meal consisted of bread with oil and vinegar as an appetizer. The first course had some kind of pasta or salad. The second course consisted of the entrée of choice and there was also an Italian dessert to follow.  Most of the time the dessert was gelato and that was my favorite dessert!

I ate gelato about twice a day when I was in Italy because I enjoyed it so much. It was just like ice cream, but creamier, and they had tons of different flavors! I tried about 8 different flavors while I was in Italy and each time I choose some kind of chocolate. The chocolate there was very rich, including the hot chocolate.  I drank hot chocolate every morning. The hot chocolate was very thick, but it definately woke me up in the morning. Overall, I enjoyed all of the authentic Italian food.
