Haley's Art Gallery
Italy is the first place that I have seen artwork painted on the ceiling. There were different paintings on the ceilings of almost every cathedral and other important buildings, such as the Doge’s Palace. I thought that this was the most unique thing and the section from the artwork of The Last Judgment comes from the ceiling of the cathedral in Florence.
Also, one thing that amazed me the most was the Glass Blowing Factory. I never knew how people could make things from glass and I was able to see it right in front of my eyes. I watched the glass blowing master make a horse and it is something I haven’t seen before and I thought it was so amazing that I bought a glass horse for myself so I will never forget the experience.
The Monument of Vittorio Emanuele II is something that is in several places in Italy. I saw the statue in Verona and also one in Rome. The statues represent how he was loved by the people, since he was the leader who united and set the people in Italy free.
I choose the artwork of the stained glass of The Madonna and the Child because she is very important in Italy. This was the one woman that everyone respected. Also, I love stained glass windows and the beauty that light shines through them. There are a lot of stained glass windows in the churches in the United States, but I did not see many in Italy, so this one was unique.
The Pomodoro Vatican Sphere really caught my eye in the Vatican Mueseum and after doing some research, I found out that the artist has made several versions of this. One of the versions is in the United States, in New York. This round sculpture is very detailed and it reminded me of an asteroid, which really captured my eye while visiting the museum.
