Haley's Reflection

Before going on the trip, I didn’t know what to expect but the minute I got my passport I could not wait to get there! Being in Italy is like being in a completely different world, compared to the United States. The history there is unbelievable. Also, I realized that all of the cars are smaller in Italy, which makes the roads a lot thinner and most of them are cobblestone roads.

Something that surprised me is the fact that most of the Italians could speak some English. When I was preparing to go over there I was trying to learn some of the Italian language so I would be able to communicate, but once I got over there I realized that I could communicate with them through my language. I really liked the people that I went with and it gave me a chance to get to meet new people.  There were two Canadian groups and a Texas group. They were all extremely nice and I am glad I got to bond more with the Lancaster group. I have never been on a plane for more than a few hours, so it was quite an experience being on one for nine hours and the food on the plane was great!

Getting to see the Roman Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain was an amazing part of my trip. That is something that I have always wanted to do. I have seen some of it in movies and I am glad that I was able to experience it in real life. Also, the gondola ride in Venice was amazing! It is truly the Italian experience getting to travel around in a boat to see all of the wonderful places. I learned about places that I would never know about and this trip has opened my eyes for new opportunities in the future.  It has shown me that there are so many possibilities in the world, but you have to be willing to try something new to find out.
